Target Audience: Healthcare facility maintenance mechanics, managers, directors, administrators, and affected individuals from any health care organization who are responsible for the maintenance and compliant operation of facilities that support the health care facility operation. The course is two hours with the first hour covering Slip, Trip, and Falls STF & Miscellaneous Safety & Environmental Compliance Topics – Presenter will discuss miscellaneous topics which include strategies for minimizing employee and visitor Slips, Trips, and Falls (STF) and environmental compliance topics such as RCRA, SQG/LQG generator requirements, regulated medical waste, DOT shipping documents and Materials of Trade (MOT) exceptions. An overview of applicable EPA (Idaho DEQ) requirements AND terms you need to know, including wastewater discharges, POTW, EPCRA, and TSCA requirements will also be covered. A decision process relating to operations chemical spills, including a discussion of Hazard Communication (29 CFR 1910.1200) vs Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) (29 CFR 1910.120) will describe how to determine and when to invoke HAZWOPER. The second hour will cover Real World Strategies for Health Care Safety and Compliance – Presenter will discuss an overview of the extent and practical requirements involved with facility operations that support the ongoing operations of a healthcare facility. The operations perspective will be emphasized.

If a class is full, please go to the class and check in with the monitor at class time. The monitor will add folks on a first-come, first-served basis as space permits. Please, do not be late for your class (your spot will be filled) and please DON’T be a “No Show.” If your class is at AGC, ITD, Tates Rents, or Suez (previously United Water), please go to those locations to see if you can attend.
Also, please make sure you print your classes after you register. A confirmation email will be sent to the email address you provide during account registration. In order to check your class schedule, log in using your username and password and navigate to My Classes. If you cannot remember your classes, please come to the registration desk for your packet at the BSU Student Union Building the first day of the conference.
