Dan spent 22 years and 4 months in the United States Coast Guard prior to being hired at St. Luke’s. While still in the Coast Guard, Dan earned his Master of Arts degree in Psychology with a concentration in Health and Well Being. Dan spent his first year out of the service working in the Boise, St. Luke’s Internal Transportation department. After Dan hurt his back while transporting patients, Dan had the opportunity to work for the Employee Safety Department. Dan’s two main focuses were to teach safe patient handling and mobility using overhead and portable lifts and to provide annual N95 fit testing to most clinical staff in the entire St. Luke’s system. Dan became passionate about keeping both the employee and patient safe when conducting any patient handling tasks.
